Will All the Queens Please Stand Up
Ms. Rasha Patterson
We are all too familiar with the booty poppin’, half (and fully) naked selfies, video vixens, and the homemade video stars that freely express how they feel about their bodies with an open invitation to anyone. From the popular reality shows, movies, music videos – even video games – all the way to street billboards, there are women who seem not to care about how they represent themselves. They seem unconcerned with the younger women and girls who are ready to soak up what they can and regurgitate it in their actions.
The time has come for us to be responsible for the leadership and the education of our children. This is not a request; this is an order.
So… Tilt your crowns back into place as you lift up your chin, square off your shoulders and straighten your spine. Take your place in the order.
There is a generation of young women and girls that are hungry for the truth of what it really means to be a Woman. They are confused because of all the popularity contests. They are looking to see where they fit in. These young ladies may even test out the waters once or twice to see if that life is for them. Though, ultimately they will find themselves wondering about the emptiness that comes along with such shallow goals and lifestyles.
It is YOU who they are looking for and YOU who they need to see. YOU are the one smiling at them in passing, telling them how beautiful they are, and encouraging them to keep both their faith and their head up. Remind them that they come from Kings and Queens and that it is time for them to also take their place in the royal order. Yes, YOU!
Stand up so that they who are searching can see you. It is time. If not you, then who? If not now, then when? These young women and girls are where you used to be when you began to choose for yourself the path that you would walk; when you looked up and saw the real woman of depth that showed you the way. Maybe she was in your family, in your church, or a favorite teacher. Or maybe she was simply the one who made it a point to smile at you and speak every time that she saw you. Now, it’s your turn.
So… Will all the Queens please stand up!
